Acadia on My Mind is a blog published at www.acadiaonmymind.com, and on the Bangor Daily News web site. We are also authors of a couple of Falcon guides, Hiking Acadia National Park and Best Easy Day Hikes, Acadia National Park. The 3rd edition of Hiking Acadia is being released April 15, 2016, just in time for Acadia’s Centennial.
Among our Centennial plans: Donate copies of our hiking guides to local libraries and historical societies; further develop a series of historic trail highlights on our blog; host a free virtual 100-mile Acadia Centennial Trek, with an optional finisher’s medal that can be purchased to raise funds for Acadia; further develop a “Wildlife Sightings in Acadia National Park” citizen science database at www.anecdata.org, a project of Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory; offer official Centennial-licensed and autographed copies of our hiking guides for sale to help raise funds for Acadia; and further develop the Acadia on My Mind Facebook page and YouTube channel.
We have created a new Acadia National Park Hiking Group on Facebook. Open to everyone, this Facebook group lets veteran and first-time hikers share trail conditions, trip reports, photos, videos and other info. It is also a central place for participants in the 100-mile virtual Acadia Centennial Trek to record their accomplishments, in celebration of Acadia’s 100th anniversary. https://www.facebook.com/groups/acadianationalpark/
