Wild Iris Farm offers horse-drawn carriage tours of historic downtown Bar Harbor. See Bar Harbor the way it was meant to be viewed—in classic, open carriages drawn by stately Shire draft horses! Our carriages hold between 6 to 22 people and tours include a narrative of some of the town’s history and sites of interest. We also offer carriages for weddings and special events. Carriages meet at 55 West Street. Reservations recommended.
Perhaps you are planning on visiting the beautiful carriage roads of Acadia National Park with your horse? If so, Wild Iris Farm offers full-service horse boarding in our new facility, complete with turnout and hay. After your ride, let us care for your horse while you relax on a beach, dine in a fine restaurant, or watch the sunset from Cadillac Mountain or another idyllic spot.
Horses are an integral part of Acadia’s history, performing heavy hauling during the park’s construction and providing the inspiration for its famed carriage road system. Wild Iris Farm celebrates that history via our working horses by allowing people to experience the sound of harness and hoof during a peaceful carriage ride, reminiscent of days gone by.
In addition to our financial donation to the Acadia Centennial, Wild Iris Farm plans to provide and display information about Centennial events. Staff will wear Acadia Centennial pins and our carriages will display the Acadia Centennial Logo.
