The Village Green Arts Association is an organization dedicated to developing facilities and events in the community of Southwest Harbor that foster the appreciation of the arts. Current projects include the development of the Island Watch Creative Center, a facility that serves as a creative retreat for art, music and writing in a stunning setting above the Village Green in Southwest Harbor. The Association is also raising funds to construct the Acadia Performing Arts Center—an auditorium, stage, and multi-function performance space for programming and events from the Southwest Harbor Library and the Creative Center. Additionally, the Association has planned improvements to the Village Green Plaza in Southwest Harbor—new landscaping, lighting, and outdoor spaces that will foster pedestrian access throughout the Village Green area.
In 2016 the Village Green Arts Association will host more than 20 events to celebrate Acadia through the arts, using venues that already exist in Southwest Harbor—The Island Watch, American Legion Hall, Coda Restaurant, Salty Dog Gallery, and The Common Good.
