Residents and visitors to Maine are invited to explore the “other side” of Bar Harbor during lantern-lit walking tours of historic sites and ghostly haunts. Participants will be taken through back streets to hear tales of local hauntings and the history behind them, as well as historical notes regarding Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island. Buildings that once seemed ordinary will take on eerie new dimensions as “The Lady in the Red Cloak” relives their history and that of the ghostly entities that are said to still reside there.
In our tenth year, our tours are well known for unusual trivia, historical facts, oddities and curiosities. We also offer Walking Tours in 7 other Maine villages, Cemetery Tours in 4 Maine locations and Haunted Lighthouse Cruises of the Kennebec/Boothbay Region.
As a tribute to Acadia’s 100th anniversary this season, we will be including even more information about the park on our regular tours, and will also offer special tours on a monthly basis that will focus on Acadia, the oldest Eastern National Park, how it was created, and the history of the area in 1916. The monthly tours will debut on July 8, as the “official” birthday of Acadia, and run through October.
