The Mount Desert Island High School chapter of National Honor Society focuses on service as a way of giving back to the community. Students selected to NHS participate in various projects throughout the year ranging from reading to first graders to a Christmas party with residents of Sonogee. This year, NHS members are excited to participate in the Acadia Centennial!
On April 27, members of the National Honor Society will present “Acadia Awareness Day” at the high school to all students. There will be an assembly with various people sharing important information with students about Acadia.
On May 29, the high school will host “Acadia Slam”, a feel good event offering photographers, artists, story tellers and Acadia lovers of all kinds a chance to share their passion for the park. Participants will have 5 minutes to show some images, tell a story about Acadia or simply gush about our beloved park. In addition, there will be an opportunity for participants to sell their work at this event.
The senior class at MDIHS will also be selling t-shirts celebrating the connection between Acadia and Mount Desert Island.
