Since 1905, the Maine Seacoast Mission has been bringing hope, help, and fellowship to isolated Maine coast residents and islanders with services delivered in ways tailored to the needs of their unique communities and circumstances. Building on long-standing relationships of trust and respect, we ply the seas out to the islands on our 75-foot boat, the Sunbeam, offering medical, pastoral, and community-building opportunities. On land, we reach seniors, families, and youth in multiple locations, including our headquarters building, the Colket Center in Bar Harbor; elementary, middle, and high schools in Washington County through the EdGE program; and our Downeast campus in Cherryfield.
To celebrate Acadia’s centennial, the Maine Seacoast Mission will help children from its Downeast education programs engage with Acadia National Park through the Schoodic Institute. The Mission will also offer tours of its headquarters on West Street in Bar Harbor—a Gilded Age home—and provide opportunities to see the park from the water on its vessel, the Sunbeam.
