Maine Arts Commission

General Description

The Maine Arts Commission works to encourage participation in arts and cultural offerings, stimulate public interest in the cultural heritage and cultural programs of our state, and foster freedom of artistic expression for the well being of the arts throughout the state.

Centennial Plans

As part of the Centennial celebration of Acadia National Park, the Maine Arts Commission will host a group show of Maine artists whose work has been directly inspired by the park. The show is part of the agency’s Art in the Capitol Program and will be on display at the Capitol Building (Maine State House) in Augusta from December 7, 2015–April 8, 2016. The show is free and open to the public Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.– 5 p.m.
