Island Connections provides free transportation and other services to seniors and people with disabilities from Mount Desert Island and the surrounding islands to enhance their independence and quality of life by utilizing our core group of dedicated volunteers.
In 1998, not long after we started, Island Connections partnered with Acadia Corp. to create an annual event for our neighbors and volunteers to enjoy tea and popovers while having the opportunity to visit with one another. This annual event assisted Acadia Corp. and now Dawnland, LLC to prepare their staff for the season with a “soft opening” opportunity. This occasion, along with the beautiful backdrop of Jordan Pond and the Bubbles, has become a wonderful tradition that so many look forward to every year. There are separate tea times for our amazing neighbors and dedicated volunteers. Both groups combined are approximately 200 island residents. Many share stories of their days in Acadia National Park, specifically at the Jordan Pond House, with very fond memories. Island Connections appreciates the generosity of both Acadia Corp. and Dawnland, LLC to provide the opportunity for our neighbors and volunteers to enjoy a social outing and delicious tea and popovers in the captivating environment known as Acadia National Park.
We will be at the Jordan Pond House for our 19th Annual Popover Event on Monday, May 16, 2016. We will be giving our neighbors and volunteers magnets with the Centennial Logo on them as a celebration of both.
