Havana features American fine dining with a Latin flair, great atmosphere, extensive wine list, knowledgeable staff and sophisticated menu. Seafood, vegetarian, chicken, beef and other dishes are flavored with intelligence and respect and change weekly, sometimes daily. Havana is located in downtown Bar Harbor, just a short stroll up Main Street.
Inspired by their travels to Central and South America, owners Michael Boland and Deirdre Swords opened Havana 18 years ago with the intention of integrating a New England sensibility with the best of Latin culture and cuisine.
Mark “Duffy” Dyer presides over the bar and is the magic behind Havana’s legendary Mojitos. Duffy has been with Havana since its’ opening. He is also the host of a local radio program on WERU in Blue Hill and sets the tone of the restaurant with his perfectly curated play-list.
Executive Chef Cassady Pappas and Head Chef Josh Crotty both have rich culinary backgrounds and source out the best possible seafood, produce and meats with an extreme focus on the local and organic.
As part of our efforts to help celebrate the Centennial, Havana hosted an event in the fall of 2015 for the Signature Sponsors as a welcome and thank-you to those sponsors. We are also hoping to offer a special dinner with a menu based on a 1916 dinner party later in the season.
