The Downeast Maine Fine Arts Festivals feature local, national, and international quality artists and crafters and are run during the peak of the tourist season on Mount Desert Island. Artists are juried to ensure both consistent quality as well as a balanced show in terms of different media.
Mount Desert has long been a destination for artists, and these shows provide the opportunity for both artists and patrons to take in beautiful art while vacationing in this inspiring area.
The 2016 shows will be “Acadia Centennial special edition” shows, specifically themed to celebrate the rich artistic tradition that Acadia National Park has served for artists throughout its history.
The 2016 Centennial shows are:
- Northeast HarborFest: Held on the Northeast Harbor Marina waterfront August 6 and 7.
- Bar Harbor Fine Arts Festival: Held on the grounds of the Bar Harbor Inn on the town waterfront August 12 through 14. In its ninth year, this show has established a reputation with both artists and patrons as one of the top shows in northern New England.
- Bar Harbor Fine Arts Festival II: The follow up to the Bar Harbor Fine Arts Festival will be held the weekend following Labor Day weekend; September 10 through 11.
The Downeast Maine Fine Arts Festivals recognize the historic importance of Friends of Acadia as an integral partner in preserving the artistic value of Acadia National Park. Artists will be able to participate as partners and donate a percent of their sales to FOA .
