I love to paint ordinary things, for paying attention to their details often elicits their complexity and wonder. I have worked on commission in watercolor for two decades, focusing largely on subjects found in nature. In recent years, I have found that creating maps drawn from experience allows me to unite my background in fine arts and environmental studies with my interests in travel and the outdoors. As I have come to know and love MDI, I have joyfully turned to artistic expressions of its natural spirit.
In honor of the 2016 Centennial, I have painted a one-of-a-kind, whimsical watercolor map of Acadia that details many favorite spots within the park. Tucked in are tidepoolers and dog walkers, stair climbers and s’more makers, cyclists and cobble collectors. Can you spot someone you know?
5% of all proceeds from the sale of the map will go to Friends of Acadia to support ANP programs and projects.
