Acadia Trad School is for people who love traditional music and want to advance their knowledge and skills in music or dance. Student sign up for one week of intensive (but fun-loaded!) classes held at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor Maine. The school brings world class faculty to Bar Harbor for a week of classes, workshops, public concerts, and ad-hoc music sessions.
During the same week of the Acadia Trad School teaching program, the school hosts the renowned Acadia Trad Celtic Music Festival. The music festival includes concerts at the College of the Atlantic, Gates Auditorium, and the Acadia Halls Concert series at small venues around Mount Desert Island.
In 2016, Acadia Trad School will dedicate the Acadia Halls Festival to the 100-year anniversary of Acadia National Park. Acadia Halls celebrates old and modern small venues on Mount Desert Island. The music is traditional music that is rooted in the heritage of Maine settlers including Acadian, Irish, Old-Time, and Scottish styles rooted in the cultures of kitchen parties, grange halls, and contra dances.
More information about the Acadia Halls Concert Series will be available as the series plans are finalized.
