Date: Sunday Feb 07, 2016 - Saturday Feb 13, 2016
Time: 6:00 pm - 9:00 am
Inspired by outdoor photographers three terms as an Artist-in-Residence with Acadia National Park (including the park’s first winter residence), Colleen Miniuk-Sperry will guide two one-of-a-kind “Winter in Acadia: A Creative Photography Retreat” on January 31–February 6, 2016 and February 8–12, 2016 on the SERC campus on the Schoodic Peninsula.
This photography workshop will bring amateur and professional photographers to Acadia to celebrate the historical and natural diversity the Schoodic Peninsula and Acadia National Park has to offer at a time when most visitors do not experience the park: winter.
Through a variety of classroom and field-based educational sessions, participants will learn about the Schoodic Peninsula and Acadia National Park’s history as well as the flora and fauna to connect more strongly with the subjects they see through their lens. Photography instruction will cover visualization, mindful observations, telling a story through composition and light, and other creative techniques. The instructional goal is to provide a supportive environment to enable photographers to create their art and inspire new ideas for their future work in Acadia and beyond.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have created a new portfolio of photographic work based on their unique winter experiences in Acadia National Park to share with their broad audiences at home.
5% of the workshop profits will be donated to Friends of Acadia for centennial projects in Acadia National Park.Location: Based out of the SERC campus, the workshop group will enjoy visits to multiple locations around Acadia National Park on the Schoodic Peninsula and Mount Desert Island.
