Date: Sunday Aug 14, 2016
Time: 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
See the world premiere of this special youth production! Wabanaki culture is alive and present in this original piece conceived and written by local Wabanaki artists, the People of the Dawnland. Experience a multimedia exploration of what it means to be of and from the Dawnland itself, incorporating cultural tales from the past with the vibrant life of the Wabanaki present and an eye to the future. Celebrate the earth, the skies, the rivers and the people of the Dawnland in these evocative tales told via poems, stories, music and Wabanaki language. Conservation, preservation and passion come together to become Transformer Tales.
Produced by Penobscot Theatre Company in partnership with The Penobscot Nation, Transformer Tales: Stories of the Dawnland will celebrate our past and inspire our future. Young performers will bring to life traditional tales of the Wabanaki, weaving past, present and future, and honoring the earth, the skies, the rivers and the people of the Dawnland.
This special performance at Blackwoods Campground is part of the “Cultural Connections in the Park” series, a partnership of the Abbe Museum and Acadia National Park and sponsored by Dawnland, LLC. Cultural Connections events occur every Wednesday from June through August and on select dates in September, and are free and open to the public.
