Date: Sunday Jul 10, 2016
Come celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of Acadia National Park (actual birthday is July 8) by hiking on the quieter, mainland unit of the park. This 3.2 mile 1-way hike utilizes some of the 7 miles of new hiking trails just opened last Fall at Schoodic Woods. We will walk at a moderate pace with periodic stops for scenery and points of interest. Bring your lunch to eat along the shore at Blueberry Hill. The return route will be via the same hiking trail or via the park loop road and carriage roads. If you bring a bicycle, you will have the option to leave your bike at Blueberry Hill and return to the start via bike.
You can drive to the hike starting point or take the ferry from Bar Harbor (special AMC member rate) and the Island Explorer bus. We plan an early morning start, so staying nearby on Saturday night may be preferable. AMC has a group campsite for Friday & Saturday night.
Registration is required for this activity – please contact the leader directly to register and for camping details. Space is limited to 14 participants.
