Sarasota Ballet Celebrates Acadia’s Centennial

Date: Friday Aug 19, 2016
Time: 7:30 p.m. -

The Sarasota Ballet will premiere a special Acadia Centennial performance on The Criterion stage. With a nod to the Centennial Celebration of National Parks, the performance will include excerpts from many ballets that feature America and the beauty of its landscapes.

The program includes George Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes (Pas de Deux & Coda), Sir Frederick Ashton’s The Walk to The Paradise Garden, Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Elite Syncopations (Alaskan Rag), Anna Pavlova’s The Dragonfly, Christopher Wheeldon’s The American (Pas de Deux), and a world premiere by Resident Choreographer Ricardo Graziano, Sonata in Four Movements.

The Sarasota Ballet’s expansive repertoire, coupled with the athleticism and artistry of the company’s dancers, all of whom live and contribute in Sarasota, Florida, has brought The Company national and international acclaim. With rave reviews in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Dance Europe, Dancing Times and numerous other publications, The Sarasota Ballet has been invited to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, at City Center and the Joyce Theater in New York City, and the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival.

Performances will be on August 19 and 20. Tickets available at
