“Rhythms of the Sea and Tides in Acadia”

Date: Friday Aug 05, 2016
Time: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

ART on West Gallery is pleased to feature David Shepard’s oil paintings at the August 5 “ART Walk Bar Harbor”. David lives close to Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. Living here and sailing the coast of Maine for forty plus years has been the inspiration for much of his painting. Dramatic storms, rhythms of the sea and tides, the ever changing skies, the landscape and gardens by his home, and the beautiful change of seasons are the recurring themes for his oil paintings.

He has used many techniques to convey the feeling of being immersed in the scene rather than experiencing it from a distance. He uses very thin washes and overlays to heavy textured effects with the palette knife.

Be sure to stop in the gallery to enjoy David’s latest Acadia work as his shares with you his tales of inspiration from Acadia’s mountains, lakes and sea.
