Date: Friday Sep 02, 2016
Time: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Virginia artist Eric Fitzpatrick has painted Acadia since he started visiting Mount Desert Island in the 1970s. When Bar Harbor gallery owners Ivan and Sherry Rasmussen happened upon Eric’s Open Studio in Roanoke, VA there was the immediate connection….“From Cadillac to the Blue Ridge.”
Each has a special affection for the other’s home and each has followed the other’s career since that chance meeting.
It is only fitting that Eric is an Acadia National Park Centennial partner and guest artist for the ART on West Gallery during the September 2 ART Walk. Eric was selected as “Favorite Artist” in his hometown until, after 25 straight wins, the category was retired. In December of 2014 Blue Ridge PBS honored him with the film “I’m Painting My Life” which will be shown at ART on West Gallery prior to and during ART Walk.
Stop by ART on West to meet this extraordinary painter and to see Eric’s Centennial oil painting, “I’ve Seen The Light” along with some of his sketchbooks and his latest Acadia work. A portion of the sale from “I’ve Seen The Light” will be donated to Friends of Acadia.Location: ART on West Gallery, 78 West Street, under the ART sign, Bar Harbor
