Time: 10:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Please join us at The Gallery at Somes Sound on Saturday, July 9, as we start off the Centennial Season with an open house and evening reception to introduce the “Acadia Centennial Collection.” As everyone is aware, the history and evolution of art in Acadia is an important piece of the Centennial Celebration. In keeping with this tradition, a group of artists represented by The Gallery at Somes Sound will create their interpretation of land and seascape paintings by well known American Artists, Frederic Edwin Church, Thomas Cole and Fitz Henry Lane.
Two book signings will be featured during the evening reception, starting at 6:00 PM:
Art of Acadia by David and Carl Little. Published by Down East Books in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the founding of Acadia National Park, the book highlights the artists who have been inspired by the landscape of greater Mount Desert Island, including the Cranberry Isles and Schoodic Point, from the early 19th century to today.
