Date: Saturday Oct 01, 2016
Time: 6 pm - 8 pm
The Eastern Maine Pops Orchestra for Young People – TEMPO – will perform “Music of Acadia,” a concert of nature-themed music, including the premiere of “Acadia,” an original composition by founder and conductor Rebecca Edmondson.
An “Acadia Then and Now” slideshow will be displayed on the big screen while the TEMPO musicians perform Edmondson’s “Acadia” as well as period pieces composed during the birth of ANP and novelty nature pieces. The TEMPO Choristers will raise their voices in tributes to Acadia, accompanied by the TEMPO instrumentalists. Over fifty historic photos in the slideshow are Courtesy of the National Park Service, Acadia National Park and Friends of Acadia. The fifty current day photos are a product of a 6th grade music class project, from the Conners Emerson School in Bar Harbor, taken on an autumn hike in Acadia National Park. The works of a local artist will be featured in the lobby of The Grand Auditorium.
To get in the spirit of Acadia, audience members may add a touch of class by attending this stunning TEMPO performance in rusticator attire and the styles during the dawning of Acadia.
This spectacular event will truly be a culmination of sight and sound, honoring the first one hundred years of a breathtakingly beautiful national park – Acadia! She’s still beautiful at 100.Location: The Grand Theater
