The Dorr Museum – Acadia Centennial exhibit

Date: Tuesday Jun 21, 2016 - Saturday Dec 31, 2016

Description:

The George B. Dorr Museum of Natural History at College of the Atlantic, housed in the original 1916 ANP headquarters, has created a museum-wide special exhibition for the Acadia Centennial. Decades of student- and faculty-led research projects are highlighted. A touch tank exhibit, designed as part of a student project, focuses on Acadia’s intertidal areas and the challenge of balancing conservation with access, while herbarium specimens from the 1890 collection of an original member of the Champlain Society—a group of young men from Harvard who spent their summers on the island, studying plants, birds, insects, fish, geology, hydrology, and meteorology—are on display.
