Date: Saturday Aug 27, 2016
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.
One hundred years ago, the vision and generosity of a few made it possible for this place to be universally enjoyed and protected as a national park. Celebrate the gifts, past and present, that make Acadia what it is today.
Please join the Acadia Centennial Task Force, the National Park Service, and more than 450 partner organizations as we celebrate 100 years of conservation and community stewardship at Acadia National Park and launch the next century of community engagement in our national parks.
Highlights will include The Burnurwurbskek Singers from the Penobscot Nation, a ceremony to honor Centennial Junior Rangers, The Centennial Singers—an (almost!) 100-voice chorus, remarks by Maine’s Congressional delegation, and special presentations.
All parking lots at Jordan Pond House will be closed except for handicapped-accessible access. A special parking lot and shuttle service will begin at 7 a.m. from Mount Desert Island High School. No dogs on the shuttle or at the event, please.
Coffee and refreshments will be provided by Dawnland LLC from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. at Jordan Pond House. Events begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.Location: Jordan Pond House Tea Lawn
