Bar Harbor Brass Week Faculty and Alumni Concert

Date: Saturday Jun 25, 2016
Time: 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Bar Harbor Brass Week retired in June 2015 after 15 years of educating and inspiring hundreds of talented brass musicians and enriching the community through public performances. This summer, the Brass Week faculty will return with a few BHBW alums, now professional musicians, to perform a special concert to celebrate Acadia’s Centennial.

The centerpiece of the program will be the world premiere of “An Acadian Portrait” by Portland composer, Terry White. The music will surround stirring readings of texts about the National Park Service, Acadia and conservation of wild places, selected and narrated by MDI native Dr. Bill Horner. Other works will include “Atlantic Zephyrs” with Matt Vaughn of The Philadelphia Orchestra as trombone soloist and “Meditation: Seal Harbor” by Maine native Eli Marshall.

The ensemble members hail from the Boston Symphony, Manhattan Brass, National Symphony, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Rochester Philharmonic, United States Army Band, and the University of Maine. Please visit our website to read more about Bar Harbor Brass Week and meet the faculty.

Tickets are available in Bar Harbor at The Criterion, Jesup Memorial Library, and Sherman’s Bookstore; and at Southwest Harbor Public Library and Northeast Harbor Library.
