Beatrix Farrand: At Home on Mount Desert Island

Beatrix Farrand Society
Date: Tuesday Jul 26, 2016
Time: 4:00 pm -

Description:

The renowned landscape architect Beatrix Farrand designed the roadside plantings for the carriage roads of Acadia National Park. Farrand was a long-time summer resident of Bar Harbor, and she spent her last years at Garland Farm in Salisbury Cove. Roxanne Brouse, co-author of Acadia National Park’s 1989 “Historic Resource Study for the Carriage Road System,” has written a new monograph, “The Public-Spirited Beatrix Farrand of Mount Desert Island.” On July 26, Brouse will discuss her book and Farrand’s contribution to the scenic views and landscape of the Park’s roadways.
