Bar Harbor’s July 4th celebration, featuring “Acadia Centennial” parade

Bar Harbor’s Fourth of July has been voted the #1 Fourth of July celebration in America by the Today Show, recognized by National Geographic as one of the top ten in the United States, and in 2016 will be an Acadia National Park Centennial headline event! Join us in Bar Harbor to celebrate America’s independence, and one of its greatest treasures, Acadia National Park.

Schedule of Events

6AM—10AM Blueberry Pancake Breakfast, Bar Harbor Athletic Field, Park Street. Join the MDI Rotary for a traditional Maine breakfast—a great way to fuel up for the day ahead. Sponsored by the MDI Rotary Club.

9AM—3PM Craft Fair/Marketplace.  The Island Arts Association will hold a Craft Fair/Marketplace at the YMCA, 21 Park Street, featuring a wonderful selection of Maine crafts, including jewelry, quilts, photographs, pottery, and porcelain dolls. Please join us for this joint fundraiser for the YMCA and the YWCA. Please call the YWCA at 207-288-5008 for additional information.

10AM Independence Day Parade.  This year’s theme is “Acadia’s Centennial.” The community shows off its patriotism, good humor, and appreciation for Acadia National Park. Parade route winds through downtown Bar Harbor from Main Street to Cottage Street to Eden Street to Mt. Desert Street to Ledgelawn Avenue.

11AM—2PM Seafood Festival, Bar Harbor Athletic Field, Park Street. Enjoy lobster, mussels, corn, strawberry shortcake, and more at the area’s largest seafood festival! Hosted by the MDI Rotary.

After the Parade, MDI YMCA Annual Lobster Races! Bar Harbor Athletic Field, Park Street. Watch local businesses put their lobsters to the test in a high-speed crustacean contest. Proceeds benefit the MDI YMCA Scholarship Program. For more information contact the MDI YMCA, 207-288-3511.

3:30PM—9PM Free Concert Series in Agamont Park. Family-friendly live music in Agamont Park. Listen as you wander by the harbor or while you stake out your seat for the fireworks! Check back soon for this year’s list of performers.

7:30PM—8:30PM Bar Harbor Town Band, Main & Mt. Desert Streets. Free concert on the Bar Harbor Village Green. For over 100 years the Bar Harbor Town Band, comprised of amateur musicians from around the region, have entertained thousands of locals and visitors.

9:15PM (approx.) Fireworks Over Frenchman Bay. Enjoy the spectacular display on the waterfront, downtown Bar Harbor. Sponsored by Ocean Properties and the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce.
