Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This two-location show featuring the work of Jana Matusz and Nathan M. Ward will open during Bar Harbor’s First Friday Art Walk. Representing the modernist edge of a classical gallery collection, both artists call Acadia their most defining inspiration. In addition to travels, teaching, and honors across New England and Europe, Boston-based Matusz has been awarded seven prestigious Maine artist residencies, including several at Acadia National Park. Ward, a native son of Mt. Desert Island, has been inspired from his youth by the surrounding park. His imaginative work is informed by the boating and fishing community of his family and friends. Both Matusz and Ward revel in color, drama, and lively brushwork.Location: Opening June 3 and continuing through June 26 at the Argosy Gallery, 110 Main Street, and Argosy II, 6 Mt. Desert Street.
